How Do I Get Credit for This Assignment?
To earn a 30 point grade on this assignment, you must do the following:
Before you start, write down your hypothesis about who will be able to do the chair trick.
Create a data table like the one below.
Have several people of different ages and genders try out this experiment.
Record their information in the data table.
Now divide your data into two categories (it might help if you make two new data tables, but you do not have to).

Organize the data into males and females.

Organize the data by age (you can make groups- under 12, 12-18, 18-25, 25 )
You will treat this as two separate experiments, with two different Independent Variables:
The Effect of Gender on the Ability to Do the Chair Trick

The Effect of Age on the Ability to Do the Chair Trick
DATA TABLE
You will need to add extra rows to the data table to accommodate the number of people you have (You need to have more than 4 people).
You will need to make two separate bar graphs (one for each Independent Variable).

On one graph, you will have 4 bars- two for females and two for males. For each gender, show the number that could stand up with the chair, and the number that could not stand up with the chair.

On the second graph, you will have two bars for each age group- one will show how many could stand with the chair, and one will show how many could not stand with the chair.

The numbers up the side (vertical Y-axis) will be the numbers of people.

Make sure your graph is correctly done (refer to your handout on bar graphs for correct format).

Using complete sentences, answer the following questions:

(1) Which variable seems to most affect a person's ability to do the chair trick? Explain your answer using your data to support your reasoning.

(2) If I told you that a person's "Center of Gravity" played a role in his/her ability to do the chair trick, how would that help to explain your results? Be specific in your answer and, once again, use your data to support your reasoning.
