Soda Bottle Hourglass


Use two soda bottles to make a modern version of an ancient timepiece!


Materials




Procedure

  1. Take two soda bottles of the same size (16 oz, 20 oz, 1 liter, 2 liter).
  2. Make two holes in the center of each bottle cap. The holes should line up when they are put together.
  3. Put sand into one of the bottles. Fill it about halfway.
  4. Screw the caps onto the bottles.
  5. Put the neck of the empty bottle on top of the other bottle and use the duct tape to tape them together.
  6. Turn over your bottles and watch the sand run through!
  7. Try using colored water instead of sand!
