Google- A great all-purpose search engine
AltaVista- In addition to a web search, it also has separate search vehicles for images, video and sound/MP3 files. You can also type your search in question form, and refine your search to get better results.
Infoseek- Searches the best of the web.
MetaCrawler- This is a search engine that searches other search engines and then organizes what it finds.
Homework Help Sites
Homework Help with BJ Pinchbeck- Created by a middle school student, this site has over 700 links to help you find the answers to some of the toughest homework assignments!
Ask an Expert- Here's the place to turn to if you need the help of an expert in the field. If you can't find the answer on the expert's page, you can send them an e-mail. While you probably won't get an immediate answer, you should get one eventually (so don't wait until the last minute)!
Homework Center- This site, part of infoplease, has links for homework help in several subjects (including science, of course!) as well as links to some handy science tools (a conversion calculator; The Periodic Table; Sun, Moon and Stars). Homework Helper- This site provides several homework help links separated by grade and then by subject. It also has links to over 100 general reference sites that could come in very handy!

Plumb Design Visual Thesaurus- A very cool 3-D thesaurus. Even if you don't need to find a word, it's fun to play with!
OneLook Dictionary Search- This site searches a large number of dictionary web sites for words and phrases.
Wikipedia- Wikipedia is a multilingual project to create a complete and accurate open content encyclopedia. A good starting point for general reference information, "because knowledge is cool."

Fact Monster-A great place to start when you need information! In addition to science and math links, there are also links to world news, the U.S., games and a homework center!
The CIA World Factbook- A great place to look up everything you need to know about countries in the world.
